Wolf Pencil Drawings Satisfy Eye of the Beholder
Wolf pencil drawings showcase a wolf alpha male, Max, resting, along with his son, Rocky, investigating.
Both wolves live safely and humanely at a wolf rescue preserve.
As an artist this gives me an unrivaled opportunity to observe their habits and movements.
As you see in the sketches, I have placed the figures of the wolves off center, as another important job for the artist is to keep the eye of the beholder interested.
Placing figures in the center of the picture area creates monotony and is unsatisfying.
Notice how as the artist I can create the impression of the alpha male by having him dominate the drawings from above.
The standing figure of Rocky lets the observer see the wolf as alert as he scans his environment.
We can see the ruffling of the wolf's coat, and the elevation, letting the observer "feel" the wind blowing through the scene.
Observe how the artist uses lines to create the impression of terrain behind Rocky standing near the edge of a precipice. Practice the use of line work, placement, tone, and remember what you see and observe.
Now you try. It is fine to trace as you practice training your hand and eye to move as one while you sketch and draw.
