Werewolf drawings gemstones does two things.

First it reflects Leban. I created his character to be one of the upstanding werewolf citizens, at a jewelry case.

Werewolves in Drawingtown are descendants of "Hounds of God" and they prefer to eat pretty gemstones like rubies, emeralds, and so forth, rather than human flesh.

And second, as I am the Chief-Artist-in-Residence, it allowed me to create an area for the town called Crystal Falls, which is on the east side of town.

I have set up the story for illustration in that Leban is meeting Miss Amato, Drawingtown's librarian, for tea in the garden. They'll be sipping while sketching rose pencil drawings.

As you practice drawing Leban from the werewolf drawings gemstones sketch, keep seeing, observing and remembering.

Leban is well-dressed in a tailored suit cut to enhance his powerful frame and broad shoulders. Notice his grooming with neatly trimmed beard and hair hinting at his werewolf heritage.

See the cloth of the suit. Using pencil strokes without blending them gives off the impression of texture to the cloth. The tie is smooth leading the observer to believe it is silk. And see Leban's eyes. They look longingly at the box of gemstones on display. His lips are slightly parted as if he is thinking about how delicious the gemstones will taste.

And the color of the jeweler's display box is royal purple hinting at the value of the gemstones. See how the stones reflect the light. The pencil strokes are drawn to reflect the light from within the gemstones. From our perspective as observers, the jewels appear larger as they are closer to us than to Leban in this drawing.

Go on now. Trace the drawing and see if you can match or better the perspective. Can you improve on the desire the sketch reflects? How would you show the quality in a jewelry store?

I have to say that sometimes the simplest thing is the most challenging to draw. See how it turns out. Remember you can always erase, or start a fresh sketch any time. It's more important to keep practicing. Because in the process of practicing an artist sharpens her or his eye. And that is because artists see things the way other people don't.
