Rose Pencil Drawings Make You Smarter

Using readily available pastels to create mixed media projects results in highly personal art with meaning. Pastels lend themselves to a wide range of drawings.

Looking at these blooms the child or adult artist naturally practices manipulating the image. The bloom can be viewed from top, bottom, flipped, rotated, and so forth.

Sometimes we only have a moment to see and remember. Seeing a flower from different angles, remembering the details, and then recalling them as rose pencil drawings or sketches is challenging.

What tools to use

I like to layer medium pastel pencils, so a range of the pencils is necessary. This technique provides you with the most flexibility to create colors for rose pencil drawings.

And then there's picking

Another tip is to select from brands of pastel pencils that are "open stock". This means that when you need to replace colors of pastel pencils, you can buy the ones you need instead of a whole new set.

Is it an impossible confusion?

Every bit of visual information is a piece of the visual puzzle - an element of the sketch or finished piece. And some of those bits and pieces you will want to change and improve. That's where the thinking comes in. Thinking through is drawing through for a visual artist.

Drawing through means that you "reduce" the flower, object, or person to its solid, basic form. And then you make it your own by changing the forms to create action, grace, decay, or something else.

Here as anywhere else, all each of us demands from the artwork you create is that it be interesting, original and convincing.
