Rose Drawing Blushes Ripe
Rose drawing completes its cycle in this fully realized illustration.
With this rose I moved from a conventional drawing to a different variety.
The treatment is finished with pastel pencils, imparting a velvet-like finish to the petals.
Tones create a play of light, shadow, and deep folds within the bloom. Notice the thicker stem needed to support the heavier bloom.
The viewer's perspective sees the rose closer than the leaves which form a halo of green enhancing the scarlet pink of the bloom. The rose is ready to pluck and press into the hand of a woman in love.
And it all started with line drawings. They will never be any better than the solid form, design and composition which lie beneath them - those circles and ovals.
Start off hand-rendering art before you take it digital as you can see in the
rose clipart.
The shapes of circles and ovals show us where to start. And how to deconstruct a rose bloom into manageable sections. Keep practicing. The practice loosens up the artist's hand and helps make the finished piece look effortless, instead of like the artist tried too hard.
EXPECT success!
