Realistic Drawings and Celebrity: In The Woods...
Where do framing and realistic drawings deliver dramatic effect? Imagine yourself taking a break in the shade near staff quarters on the sprawling campus of the University of Pune. If you're like me, a charcoal pencil finds its way into my hand and sketching begins.
Sketching is my hobby. And being an architect I require it for professional purposes, too.
Quite naturally, forms of structures have always interested me.
For any sketch to be successfully appreciated it should exceed in basic line work, relative proportions of objects to be illustrated, the angle of framing of objects, and overall composition of the field of view on the canvas.
As you can see, I felt that the "natural" framing of the staff quarters offered by two banyan trees would give atmosphere to the object depicted beyond. This can be used as a technique rendering the subject interesting.
Anything which is to be highlighted, if it is bounded by or framed by surrounding natural objects such as trees, bushes or natural openings found in fortified walls, holds the eye.
For rendering, I used a charcoal pencil on a leather textured paper. The texture gets highlighted depending on the density of the shading pattern.
