Understanding online brain teasers explanations is far from complete.

The explanations here are tentative. Regard them with a measure of skepticism because some of the explanations involve my own speculations.

My hope is that they will inspire you to some serious thought as to why these effects occur.

Further, I hope they will inspire you to create some practical visual demonstrations of your own. Perhaps you will create a new way with art and develop insights into the human brain.

Playing around with this figure as a three dimensional model for a project, I viewed it from all angles. Drawing it to fool the eye involved drafting the illusion of viewing it from the top, bottom and side.

The red box creates the illusion of reality. Upon careful contemplation, the eye delivers to the brain the twist in perception. Notice the placement of the vertical bar creating the impossible box.

Is the sky falling? Can I climb down the figure? Where does this illustration lead me as the viewer? It is simply confounding which adds to the enjoyment of the art and challenges the brain.
