Free Drawing Programs Get No Cost Pro Results!
Free drawing programs are available for drawing and painting, 3D, and illustration. So we huddled around the computers in the studio to research and report on the best right now.
Looking at
computer drawing programs
and painting software we came up with the very popular free package, Gimp. I was surprised at how similar it is to Adobe Photoshop, a professional, commercial product. While Gimp originated in Japan with manga and comic book artists, the training and help materials are online now in English.
In a few minutes you'll be able to take the drawings you are making on paper, transfer them into your
Apple iPad tablet,
or create them with digital pens on
drawing tablets
with USB to load them into a computer, and then share them at lightning speed with the world!
If you are like me - an artist who sketches and draws on paper - drawing with a computer mouse is stiff, awkward and total madness. You likely will be better served using a computer drawing tablet and digital pen along with this specific drawing and painting download.

For 3D, or three dimension drawing, Google has released the no cost SketchUp basic. Yippee!
You can give it a try like we did. The download is smooth and easy. It took maybe ten minutes from installation to creating a 3D scene. I've cropped a piece of the art we created so you can see the results.
It's fun and easy to create perspective drawings with SketchUp.
One of my clients is an architect, and he was pleasantly surprised by the great quality the no cost package delivers on technical drawings and architectural renderings. If you are the least bit interested, get the free download for the basic package now at: http://sketchup.google.com and start playing.
Illustration software InkScape is akin to Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw - powerful illustrating packages. Yet InkScape is a no cost download! If you are interested in a hobby or career in commercial graphic design, try InkScape. It will help you get started and practice making the modern computer images you see in magazines, movie titles, and on television. If you decide not to pursue graphic design then your experiment won't have cost you money. Check out InkScape at http://www.inkscape.org
If you are a mixed media digital artist, these free drawing programs can help you create and deliver your visual messages more easily and more professionally.
My team and I recommend each of these downloads. Even though they are "no cost" they are beyond basic tools. Nevertheless, anyone starting out can master them quickly with a little practice and patience.
You do not have anything to lose by trying these three free drawing programs. And you do not have to invest any money or buy anything. Commercial drawing software is pricey. You might as well try it for free before you decide to invest hundreds of dollars in digital tools to create your drawings and paintings.
Keep practicing!
