Drawings of Angels From Idea to Reality
Drawings of angels build cognitive thinking skills.
This challenges individual children to imagine four- and six-winged seraphims, to Archangel Gabriel reputed to have a wing span from the Eastern to Western horizon.
Conceptually for the drawing task, a child-like angel is to represent an unseen, unknown entity in physical form.
This stimulates and trains the child's eye to understand an idea, see it mentally, and then bring it forth in physical form.
Here you find two variations on Abia, the littlest angelic messenger.
Notice the simple shapes - circles - to use in drawing practice. You can s-t-r-e-t-c-h the circles into ovals to draw hands, arms, head, halo and torso. Simple lines add shape and expression to her face.
Your turn Print out the sketch of Abia. Trace it. Practice drawing circles and lines. Very soon, you will have an angel of your very own, drawn just to suit your eye. You're invited Our community of artists is the friendliest and most supportive on the Web.
My partner, Malla, and I make available free Web space to
display your art here.
Just below is a sample of color added to the line drawing. See how color changes the shape and adds texture to the garments and facial expression. Do not be afraid to smudge the pencil sketch and the colors with your fingertip. Notice how simply smudging softens an edge, or adds a highlight. Keep practicing.
Original Ironman Then there is the military looking Archangel Michael, noted for vanquishing
fallen angels.
Use your imagination to create your own angel drawings. Do not worry about doing a drawing the "right" way. In art, there are no mistakes. See, observe and remember. Practice drawing what you remember. Practice drawing what you like. Practice as much as you can. That is what makes an artist.
