Drawing Tables Practical Essential

Drawing tables offer large, flat surfaces to create a variety of illustrations, sketches, paintings, drawings, or work on writing projects.

The largest one I own is vintage, made of wood and measures 59 inches by 39 inches to fit the size of any project I have planned.

It is completely adjustable for getting a comfortable height (I'm tall.) and tilt. It has a slight built-in lip to keep pens, pastel pencils, nibs, and so on from rolling off or sliding off onto the floor.

I use it for traditional art projects, sketchpads, artist paper, as well as utilizing my Wacom Intuos4 extra large graphics tablet.

Here you'll find more about my favorite drawing supplies, iPad, and equipment.

Portable drawing surfaces can be small enough to fit on your lap. Larger models can have wheels and be rolled from room to room to follow the light or shared accommodations.

While a personal workspace is essential for any artist, some find it difficult to concentrate with their drawing table near a window. Others gain inspiration from the view. Whatever supports your muse, a portable desktop for creating lets you work in the place that makes the most sense for you. The bonus is that you can always move it if things aren't working out!

Every artist I know needs storage for writing implements, brushes, inks, completed projects, nibs, digital pens and more.

Look for an artist's desk with convenient storage and supplies to make working both efficient and cut way down on the distractions.

drawing tables Drawingtown I told you I'm tall. On oversize projects, I like to be able to tilt my work top far enough so I don't have to stand up and edit the top of the work.

Total tilt is a great plus because it can put a stop to the back and neck pain you can get with hunching over an inflexible desk top surface.

Some artists, writers included, like a fixed standard height 30 inches to get a stable surface. This doesn't work for me because of my height.

If you want to keep your options open, choose an adjustable-height model. Mine can stretch up to 49 inches off the floor. This makes it easy for me to roll a chair under it, tilt the top anywhere I want, not bump my knees, and have an entire project in front of me.

Now, if clutter makes you crazy, a fold-away drawing table can help keep you sane. Fold-away drawing tables are simple and streamlined to be folded up and stored when not in use. They could include a lip or edge to keep your tools or instruments from rolling or sliding off when tilted at an angle. They are also useful if space is in short supply where you work.

My table is vintage. It's light wood with industrial hardware for making all adjustments. It suits me. My advice to you is: Choose a drawing table that suits your personal style and decor

They come in a variety of materials besides wood, including glass, plastic and metal. Choose whatever you're comfortable working on and that enhances your environment for years to come.
