Desk Organizing Problem of Scale
Desk organizing doesn't need to be a problem for artists, writers, and other creative people. Just keep the desk small. Yes, really. Keep it small.
I used to do homework on the same desk in my studio today.
It's another way of looking at clutter actually. Clutter Attracts Clutter. It's The Law of Attraction in action!
If I had a towering secretary it would be filled with things I just never got around to recycling, working into art, or tossing out.
Over the past decade or so, we have gained more space in our homes. Today's homes are bigger. Garages house two, three, four cars. More bedrooms. More closets. And they are powerful magnets attracting clutter more and faster than ever before.
And once you have it, you have to tend it even renting extra storage space to hold the clutter. The "tending" to clutter takes time away from creative work. And it siphons money away from art supplies.
My suggestion is to keep it compact.
A taboret, self-contained craft table, or old chest of drawers with space for essential art supplies and equipment can easily work.
It can keep your creative space clean, and store frequently used items like pastel pencils or Yupo paper within easy reach.
Because the storage chest is compact, it naturally keeps overstocking to a minimum.
