Chinese Dragon Drawing
Culture, Success, Power
All in the Pen

Chinese dragon drawing differs from depictions in the West. In China in cities such as Beijing or Kunming, the dragon represents culture. I prefer to show Chinese dragons as benevolent, respected, and not symbols of aggression. It is a great compliment to suggest that your son or daughter will become as successful and powerful as a dragon.

Notice that I have drawn this dragon's tail as a precision lighter. It comes in handy when igniting fireworks on location. Try your hand at sketching and then coloring it yourself. You may start off thinking it is too hard for you. And that is just fine. Artists get better with practice.

So print out the sketch and trace it over as many times as you need to. Soon you will start drawing it freehand using the sketch as reference. There are plenty more chances to get better here at Drawingtown.
