Butterfly Drawings Structure and Anatomy Wing It
Butterfly drawings reflect the lifestyle of these day-flying insects. See the antennae on the illustration below? Have your own art ready? Then
get discovered. Share it here.
The antennae are used to sense scent, wind and nectar. Nectar is the primary source of food for these colorful adults.
Look at the coloration on the illustrated drawing below. In life the colors are scales that are loosely attached to the wing. They come off easily with no harm to the creature.
You can choose to practice sketching the shapes: modified triangles, circles and rectangles. Or you can practice drawing freehand, with an opaque projector or light tracer box. Print out the image and then put tracing paper over it to practice. This technique loosens your drawing hand and gets it used to the shapes.
You may have to trace the line drawing many times before it feels unforced.
When you're satisfied, you can transfer your drawing to this
free door hanger template
with your own message. It could be "Illustrator Needs Quiet Time" or "Pen At Play Do Not Disturb". Use your imagination! Computer render or hand render a design. Make another as a gift.
